Justin is the President of MACED in Berea, Kentucky.
He also worked as Executive Director of the Progressive
Technology Project in Washington DC and is a board
member of the Center for Rural Strategies
Sandra Mikush, Mary Reynolds
Babcock Foundation
Board Secretary
Sandra is Assistant Director of the Mary Reynolds
Babcock Foundation in Winston-Salem, North Carolina,
where she has worked for the last twelve years. She
leads the foundation's critical work in building organizational
capacity.
Roland Anglin, Initiative for
Regional and Community Transformation
Board Treasurer
Roland is Executive Director of the Initiative for
Regional and Community Transformation at the Edward
J. Bloustein School for Planning and Public Policy.
He is a long-time friend of community economic development,
and previously held management and program positions
with the New Jersey Public Policy Research Institute,
SEEDCO and The Ford Foundation.
Joe Brooks, PolicyLink
Joe is Vice President for Civic Engagement at PolicyLink
– a national “public policy action and
advocacy organization” with a focus on equity
and strong organized communities. Joe spent the prior
seven years as the Program Executive for Neighborhood
and Community Development at the San Francisco Foundation.
Paul E. Castelloe, Jr., Center
for Participatory Change
Paul co-founded and is now Program Coordinator for
the Center for Participatory Change in Asheville,
NC, a non-profit that disseminates participatory change
as a practice model in community organizing and development.
Paul brings to his board role at SRDI a wealth of
experience working with rural grassroots organizations,
organizing people around critical issues, and evaluation
planning.
Alvin Dollar, Georgia Black United
Fund
Alvin is a long-time community activist in Atlanta,
former City employee and a board member of the Georgia
Black United Fund.
Andrew Foster, Duke University
Andrew is founding director of Duke Law’s Community
Enterprise Clinic, where he provides law students
with training in and exposure to affordable housing,
job creation and community revitalization projects.
Among his prior experience is his work as Co-Director
of the NC Justice and Community Development Center,
a leading advocacy organization for the state's low
income communities. For two years, Andrew worked for
SRDI, managing our community reinvestment project.
Tracey Greene-Dorsett, National
Rural Funders Collaborative
Tracey offers a range of training, leadership development
and evaluation experience, currently serving as Director
of Learning and Evaluation with the National Rural
Funders Collaborative. She is the former Director
of Technical Assistance and Training for long-time
SRDI stakeholder, the South Carolina Association of
CDCs.
Savi Horne, Land Loss Prevention
Project
Executive Director and Senior Attorney at Land Loss
Prevention Project, Savonala (Savi) Horne works with
grassroots organizations to formulate legal strategies
to address environmental equity and other rural justice
issues. She also directs the Partners in Agriculture
Program and coordinates the Southern Sustainable Research
and Education project. She is a member of a National
Environmental Justice Advisory Subcommittee and serves
on the Rural Coalition Board.
Felicia Jones, Black Belt Community
Foundation
Felicia is Executive Director of the Black Belt Community
Foundation in Selma, Alabama, which harnesses and
delivers philanthropic resources for six rural Alabama
counties. Felicia is no stranger to the complex economic
issues facing rural communities: she is the former
Executive Director of the Sumter County Industrial
Development Authority.
John
Littles, McIntosh Sustainable Economic
and Environmental Development
John is Executive Director of McIntosh SEED, a grassroots,
community-based organization working in McIntosh County,
GA whose work is guided by the social, economic, environmental
and cultural interests of the community. The organization
works to provide quality education, better housing
and recreational facilities, business opportunities
and environmental protection and restoration. Its
board and staff are committed to creating and sustaining
a healthy and diverse community through community
development, community organizing, advocacy and direct
service.
Tim Marema, Center for Rural
Strategies
Tim entered the non-profit media field after a seven-year
career in daily newspaper journalism. In 1988 he helped
found the Chapel Hill (North Carolina) Herald, a daily
edition of the Herald-Sun of Durham. He served as
editor of the newspaper for five years before joining
Appalshop as development director in 1992. Tim has
been a grants panelist for several agencies and has
been active in regional organizations such as the
Coalition on Religion in Appalachia and the Kentucky
Appalachian Commission Citizen's Council.
Ines Polonius, alt.Consulting
Ines is one of the founding members, specializing
in business turnarounds. She has also worked with
numerous early-stage companies in manufacturing, services,
distribution and retail. She regularly conducts organizational
and financial audits, facilitates planning sessions
and customizes management systems for businesses.
She has worked with over 80 rural businesses in the
Delta Region. Her previous experience includes work
with the North Carolina Institute for Minority Economic
Development and work with rural micro-enterprise development
projects in Chile and the Dominican Republic, and
financial management in Germany.
Karl Stauber, Danville Regional
Foundation
Karl works at the Danville Regional Foundation as
President/CEO, which seeks to develop, promote and
support activities, programs and organizations that
improve the health, welfare and education of the residents
of Danville, Pittsylvania and Caswell Counties in
VA. Karl previously served as the Northwest Area Foundation’s
President/CEO, their Vice President of Programs, Deputy
Undersecretary of Agriculture, and Undersecretary
of Agriculture. He was the chief policy strategist
for rural and small community development in his tenure
with the government.
Ray Williams, Enterprise Corporation
of the Delta
Ray is
Senior Program Manager at Enterprise Corporation of
the Delta (ECD) in Jackson MS. With two decades of
experience in lending, Ray focuses on health care
lending and strengthening small community loan funds.
